The Dow Jones industrial average and other major stock indexes surged in premarket trading Thursday, buoyed by a strong earnings report from chip maker Nvidia (NVDA). The artificial intelligence leader soared by double digits ahead of the opening bell on the stock market today as investors reacted to surprise jobless claims numbers.
Dow futures climbed 0.5% in premarket action, while S&P 500 futures rallied 1.4%. Tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 futures were up 2.1% vs. fair value.
Among U.S. exchange traded funds, the Nasdaq 100 tracker Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) ETF was up 2%, as the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY) moved up 1.4%.
