Australian Prime Minister Albanese said on Thursday that Canberra recognizing a Palestinian state was just a matter of time.

Australia has taken another step towards recognizing Palestine and is committed to doing so after the United Kingdom signaled its own intentions overnight, Reuters news agency reported.

In a joint statement with 14 countries, including several who already recognize a Palestinian state, Australia welcomed a series of commitments by the Palestinian Authority which could pave the way to recognition, which Anthony Albanese called "a very significant step forward".

　　美国国务院今天发布声明表示，美国将对巴勒斯坦自治政府官员和巴勒斯坦解放组织成员实施制裁，称这些团体削弱促进和平的相关努力。

　　路透社报导，声明指出，这项措施将阻止被制裁对象取得美国签证，「巴勒斯坦解放组织（Palestine Liberation Organization）和巴勒斯坦自治政府（Palestinian Authority）未遵守自身承诺且破坏和平前景，向两方究责并使其承担后果，符合我国国家安全利益」。

Germany's Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said on Thursday the recognition of a Palestinian state comes more at the end of the negotiations for a two-state solution, but that process must begin now, warning Berlin would respond to "unilateral steps".

Johann Wadephul issued the statement before heading off to Israel and the Palestinian territories on a trip Berlin has billed as a fact-finding mission amid heightened alarm over starvation in Gaza.
