Bank earnings season has kicked off, with a mixed bag of results from Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo.
JPMorgan posted a double-digit jump in quarterly profit, but much of that was driven by an exchange of shares in Visa. Its underlying profit fell. Wells Fargo's profit and revenue fell and the bank cut its annual outlook. At Citi, on the other hand, profit rose 10%, as revenue climbed across the bank.
Wells Fargo stock slid more than 5% in premarket trading, while JPMorgan stock also dropped, before paring losses. Citi shares gained before the bell.
