There were 656 mass shootings last year, but at some point earlier in the year, there were slightly over 2.0 per day.

But states with highest gun ownership, >50%, has mass shootings per capita 245% times as high as states with lowest gun ownership, <30%, so far this year. Last year, that number is 185%. Data from https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/

67 so far in 2024.

656 in 2023. My data are missing two cases at the end of the year.
