As a Wyandotte County prosecutor in the 1990s, Morehead helped KCKPD Detective Roger Golubski frame an innocent man who spent 23 years in prison.
Morehead presented no physical evidence tying McIntyre to the murders. She relied upon the testimony of a witness, Niko Quinn, who later recanted.
Quinn said Morehead threatened to throw her in jail and take her children if she didn’t lie about what she saw the day of the double homicide.
Morehead also failed to disclose that she had a past romantic relationship with the judge on the case.

美国由检察官制造的冤假错案非常普遍。某独立调查机构的结论:
Prosecutor misconduct is widespread and ingrained in our nation’s criminal justice system.

诸如此类的案例每年媒体都有报道。遗憾的是,那些为非作歹的检察官、法官凌驾于司法之上;即使他们罪证确凿,最终受到惩罚的只是极个别人。

A Texas judge Jack Robison burst in on jurors deliberating the case of a woman charged with sex trafficking and declared that God told him the defendant was innocent.
The offending judge received a warning and returned to the bench. The defendant was convicted after a new judge took over the case.

A longtime Alabama judge Cullman District Court’s Kim Chaney remained on the bench for three years after being accused of violating the same nepotism rules he was tasked with enforcing on the oversight commission.
In at least 200 cases, court records show, Judge Chaney chose his own son to serve as a court-appointed defense lawyer for the indigent, enabling the younger Chaney to earn at least $105,000 in fees over two years.
