In April 2014, during a financial crisis, state-appointed emergency manager Darnell Earley changed Flint's water source from the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (sourced from Lake Huron and the Detroit River) to the Flint River.

Residents complained about the taste, smell, and appearance of the water.
Officials failed to apply corrosion inhibitors to the water, which resulted in lead from aging pipes leaching into the water supply, exposing around 100,000 residents to elevated lead levels.

A pair of scientific studies confirmed that lead contamination was present in the water supply.

March 23, 2015: Flint City Council members vote to reconnect to Detroit water. Emergency manager Jerry Ambrose overrules the vote.

The city switched back to the Detroit water system on October 16, 2015.

General Motors shutting off Flint River water at engine plant over corrosion worries

Chloride levels in treated Flint River water are so high that General Motors will no longer use it at its engine plant here because of fears it will cause corrosion.

"Because of all the metal ... you don't want the higher chloride water (to result in) corrosion," Wickham said. "We noticed it some time ago (and) the discussions have been going on for some time."

想起来我 2015 年去 East Lansing 开会，当地的老师也说他们的水不能喝，得自己买水喝。

美国隐瞒环境污染的事太多。主要是在污染严重的地方建住房。引起住户得癌症之类。
然后原来的开发商消失，政府部门推责。或者请律师说你得病没有证据表明一定是污染引起。
