Alphabet (GOOG/GOOGL) reported Q2 earnings late Wednesday of $9.11 per diluted share, up from $2.31 a year earlier. Analysts polled by FactSet expected $2.88.

Revenue for the three months ended June 30 was $119.80 billion, up from $96.43 billion a year earlier. Analysts expected $117.06 billion.
